Review of the cartoon "Jock";

The youngest Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Jock, was born small and weak. However, his mother convinced him that a brave heart is more important than powerful paws, and Jock grew up to be a true fighter, never giving up and not capable of betrayal. In short, the perfect dog for a young man like Percy Fitzpatrick looking for gold in the desert of South Africa.
In Russia, the name Jock doesn't mean anything to anyone, but in South Africa, all whites and many Blacks know this dog. In 1907, James Percy Fitzpatrick, an outstanding South African politician and businessman, wrote a book about how, in his youth, he traveled with his faithful dog through the golden fields of the Transvaal. Since then, "Jock from Bushveld" has been considered mandatory reading in South Africa for all white schoolchildren. However, even without teaching assignments, young children are happy to "swallow" the entertaining chronicle of Fitzpatrick and Jock's adventures.
Naturally, when animators from South Africa decided to release their first full-length 3D cartoon and invite American celebrities to play the main roles, they based the script on the most popular children's book in the country. However, in the hands of Douglas McNeilly and his colleagues, "Jock" turned from a plausible narrative in the spirit of Jack London's northern stories into a "Disney" cartoon with talking, singing and dancing animals. Who coexist with unsuspecting people. As a result, the animators have gone unacceptably far from the original text, clogged the picture with primitive Hollywood cliches, lost the realism of the "Jock" and greatly confused the action. It's no joke – the film has two parallel storylines that unite a whole crowd of two-legged and four-legged characters.
All this wouldn't be so scary if "Jock" was a beautiful, large-scale cartoon with a gorgeous soundtrack. But it's not funny to compare this film with the Lion King, it's insulting to the Disney masters. I don't know where the hands of McNeilly's animators grow from, but this is clearly not the place from which the hands of the creators of significant full-length cartoons usually grow. Because the animation of "Jock" is not just weak, it's shameful. Characters can only be so jerkily "animated" in student projects that are shown to teachers and immediately erased so that they don't feel ashamed of their first steps in computer graphics.
The backgrounds of "Jock" are even worse– I've seen better backgrounds in low-budget TV computer cartoons. And not the first freshness. Even in South Africa. Which is still one of the richest African countries, and its children have the right to high-quality animation.
As for the music, the credits of "Jock" list big names like Bryan Adams, Alan Menken, Tim Rice and Klaus Badelt. However, the masters could not be inspired by the film, and their creations were not memorable to me. However, against the background of the script and graphics of "Jock", his soundtrack is the strongest and most professional part of the picture. transescort.org/trans/spain/madrid/
